*_“Ruth: an obedient daughter-in-law”_*

(Ruth 3)

True obedience is not just hearing instructions but following them wholeheartedly, even when the outcome is uncertain. When Naomi asked Ruth to approach Boaz at night and follow her guidance, Ruth did not argue, doubt, or delay. She simply answered, “All that thou sayest unto me I will do” (Ruth 3:5). Her obedience required courage and humility, yet she trusted and acted without hesitation.

The Bible gives us many examples of such obedience:

Noah obeyed God and built the ark, even though he had never seen rain. Moses carried out everything God commanded concerning the tabernacle. Abraham set out for an unknown land because God told him to go. The disciples left their nets immediately when Jesus called them to follow Him.

In each case, obedience came before understanding. They did not wait for explanations; they simply trusted and acted.

Today, we are also called to a life of obedience—whether in small daily matters or in larger steps of faith. Children are called to obey their parents in the Lord (Ephesians 6:1). As God’s children, our highest calling is to obey the Lord without question.

Let us learn from Ruth: to obey promptly, humbly, and fully. For when we walk in obedience, we show our love and trust in God, even if we do not yet see the full picture.

Heavenly Father,

We thank Thee for reminding us of the importance of unquestioning obedience. Grant us grace to hearken unto Thy Word and to follow it without delay or complaint. Give us the courage of Ruth, the faith of Noah, and the readiness of the disciples. May our obedience bring glory unto Thee in all that we do.

In Jesus Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
