The concerns and prayers of Nehamiah for his brethern
Nehemiah 1:1,2
'....as I was in Shushan the citadel,
That Hanani one of my brethren came with men from Judah: and I asked them concerning the Jews who had escaped, who had survived the captivity and concerning Jerusalem.'
From the 11th verse, it is understood that Nehamiah was a cupbearer for the king. Even though he was in a high professional state, he was deeply concerned with the conditions of the people of Israel, his brethren. He took a conscious effort to know the pains and agonies of his people even in the midst of the huge responsibilities he was assigned to. 'In Shushan the citadel'. This phrase which is included in the first verse, indicates Nehamiah's desire to understand the sufferings of his people.
The fourth verse clearly denoted the genuine sorrow of Nehamiah when he heard the state of the people of Israel. He bowed down before heaven for the redressal of his grief. Galatians 6 :2 states, 'bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.' Also, in James 5:16 we saw, ' pray for one another '.
Dear children of God,
May the Almighty give us his grace to build a co-relation in order to bear one another' pain and to be concerned with each other like Nehemiah. By those selfless deeds may God's name be glorified through us.
🙏Amen🙏
